Wati vs Respond.io vs SleekFlow for a Dubai team

Wati, Respond.io and SleekFlow compared for UAE businesses: pricing tiers, API access, automation depth, and when each stops fitting

Sergei Suvorin · Co-founder, PHII Labs

Three WhatsApp BSP dashboards compared side by side

The three platforms handle WhatsApp automation differently enough that the wrong choice costs months of rebuild work. Wati wins on onboarding speed, Respond.io wins on routing depth, and SleekFlow wins on sales-flow design. The deciding question is not feature count. It is how much custom logic your operation actually needs and whether you will hit the price point where a direct Cloud API build becomes cheaper

Which platform gets a Dubai team messaging fastest?

Wati was built to get a team live without touching code. The onboarding flow connects to your Meta Business portfolio, creates the WhatsApp Business Account, and loads a drag-and-drop conversation builder in under a day. Template submission happens inside Wati's interface. For a small team that needs a working bot before the next week, this is still the fastest path

Respond.io takes longer to configure. The routing engine assumes you have already thought about how conversations should be routed before you open the builder. Teams that arrive with a clear agent and escalation map can configure a multi-step workflow in a few days. Teams that start without one tend to rebuild it two or three times

SleekFlow sits between the two. Its flow builder is approachable but carries more configuration options than Wati, which means more decisions before anything runs. The DIFC-registered office and a UAE-specific support team show up in the onboarding experience. A Dubai agency setting up without a technical lead should expect to be live within a week with SleekFlow, longer if the flow logic is complex

We have moved teams off all three platforms at different stages. The ones who struggled most had not written down their routing rules before choosing a platform

How deep do routing and automation go on each platform?

Wati's visual builder handles sequences, conditions and basic A/B splits. Multi-step routing based on lead score, agent availability or CRM data is available but requires external integrations to go deep. For straightforward intake and qualification flows, it covers most requirements

Respond.io was designed for routing. Agents can be assigned by skill, language, team or queue. Conversations move between teams with full context preserved. Multi-channel routing across WhatsApp, Instagram, email and other channels runs on the same logic. This depth pays off when you have multiple teams, a support and sales split, or a real estate firm where leads from different sources need different handling paths

SleekFlow puts sales flows at the centre. Its automation builder is strongest for pipeline stages, follow-up sequences and CRM write-back. The AI integration sits closer to the surface than Respond.io, which means less custom work to get a GPT-powered qualifier running. For a sales team that already works in HubSpot or Salesforce, SleekFlow reduces the integration overhead

Our a property-management platform property management project hit its 60% AI-handled chat target on a platform with custom logic beyond any builder. The routing the a property-management platform team runs handles tenant queries, contractor requests and maintenance escalations with different agent pools and approval queues. None of the three platforms' builders would have shipped that without significant custom work. When you are scoping this in Dubai, the WhatsApp automation service page describes what we build on the official platform

How does the pricing model work on each platform?

All three charge a subscription on top of Meta's per-delivered-message fees. The subscription covers the platform, the web inbox and the builder. The per-conversation charge covers Meta's side plus the BSP margin. Most sales calls skip this part of the bill. For the full Meta rate card and a worked UAE cost model, see WhatsApp Business API in the UAE

Wati prices on seat count with three tiers. Starter covers basic flows and team inboxes. Pro adds advanced automations and integrations. Enterprise covers API access and custom limits. Per-conversation markups apply above free-tier volumes

Respond.io prices on conversation volume and seat count. The entry tier covers team inboxes and basic routing. Growth adds multi-channel and AI features. Enterprise covers API access, unlimited routing and advanced analytics. The per-conversation rate is competitive at higher volumes

SleekFlow uses a per-seat model with bundled conversation volumes. Sales and marketing automation features sit in separate pricing tiers. The model is more transparent than some competitors, but the bundled volumes can catch teams that do not model their real monthly conversation count before signing

For a Dubai agency with 2,000 inbound conversations a month, the all-in cost (Meta delivery fees plus BSP subscription plus per-conversation markups) typically lands between AED 1,500 and 3,000 before any custom development work. At higher volumes the per-conversation markup becomes the variable that determines which platform is cheapest

Migration complexityModerate (WABA and templates migrate, automation rebuilds)Moderate to high (routing logic does not carry between platforms)Moderate (templates migrate, sales flows rebuild)

Of three BSP migrations we have run in the past year, every one involved rebuilding the automation logic from scratch. Chat history does not move. Templates sometimes do. The routing map you spent a month designing in one platform's builder has to be rebuilt in the next. Budget two to three weeks of rebuild time for any migration

Sergei Suvorin · Co-founder, PHII Labs

Can I move a number and templates between BSPs later?

Yes. The phone number migrates through Meta's standard number-migration flow. Your WhatsApp Business Account and phone number sit in your Meta business portfolio, not in the BSP's. As long as you own the portfolio, the number can move. Templates also move, but Meta reviews and re-approves them after a migration, which takes up to 48 hours

What does not move: chat history and automation logic. Every BSP stores conversation history in its own database. When you leave, you export what you can and lose the rest. The conversation flows and routing rules built inside Wati, Respond.io or SleekFlow live in those platforms' builders and have to be rebuilt from scratch on the new one

The practical implication is that you should not choose a BSP based on a migration plan you expect to use. Choose it based on whether the platform fits your current routing logic. If you know your team will outgrow a visual builder, choose a platform with real API access early rather than paying for a migration later. The handoff design that keeps these platforms compliant is covered in human handoff for WhatsApp bots

When does using the Cloud API directly make more sense?

All three platforms sit on top of WhatsApp's Cloud API and add a UI layer. That layer has a cost. As your conversation volume grows, the per-conversation BSP markup compounds

A direct Cloud API integration removes the platform fee and the BSP margin. You pay Meta's rates and your own engineering cost. At a few thousand conversations per month, the math usually breaks in favour of a custom build for teams that have developers available or can hire a small team

The other case for going direct is custom conversation logic that none of the three builders can express without workarounds. Complex conditional trees, multi-party conversations, tightly integrated AI with custom prompts, and workflows that span channels all run on the direct API. Platforms exist because building on the API is harder. If your team has the capability and the volume to justify it, the platform overhead disappears

For a Dubai real estate firm with 5,000 conversations a month and an existing engineering team, a direct Cloud API build running on a custom bot plus CRM write-back will typically cost less than the three-platform fees combined. For a five-person team running 300 conversations a month on a BSP, the platform fee buys more value than the engineering time would

Note

If you already use HubSpot, Salesforce or Zoho: check which integrations are native before paying for Enterprise tiers. SleekFlow and Respond.io both offer native CRM write-back that does not require API custom work. Respond.io covers the broadest range of CRM platforms natively

The takeaway

Wati, Respond.io and SleekFlow are three genuinely different tools wearing the same label. Wati gets teams live fastest. Respond.io handles the most complex routing. SleekFlow makes sales automation the easiest to build and maintain without a developer. None of them is strictly better than the others

The mistake we see most often is choosing a platform based on features listed on a comparison page and then discovering that the routing logic that makes your operation work cannot be built inside the chosen builder without workarounds or a developer anyway. Map your routing requirements before you evaluate. Then pick the platform that fits them

If you want to map your current WhatsApp traffic against these options and find the actual crossover point for a direct API build, book a free automation audit. We price it against your real conversation volume

FAQ

Which is better for a Dubai SME: Wati, Respond.io or SleekFlow?

Wati for fast onboarding and marketing teams, Respond.io for complex routing and APIs, SleekFlow for sales-driven flows. The deciding factor is how much custom logic you need

Do these platforms charge on top of Meta's fees?

Yes — each adds a subscription plus often a markup on conversation pricing. Model the total at your real message volume before choosing; the BSP fee dwarfs Meta's share at low volume

Can I switch BSPs later?

Yes — the WhatsApp number and templates can move between BSPs with Meta's migration flow. What does not move: your chat history and automation logic, which you rebuild

When should I skip BSPs and use the Cloud API directly?

When you need custom conversation logic the platforms' builders cannot express, or when platform fees exceed a custom build's cost — typically past a few thousand conversations a month
