Law firm SEO in the UAE: practice-area pages, lawyer profiles, Google Business Profile, LegalService schema and the federal rules on lawyer promotion.

Law firm SEO in the UAE means answering the questions clients search before they call a lawyer: one page per practice area built around those questions, a profile for every lawyer with their qualifications and languages, a Google Business Profile that matches the site, and marketing that stays inside the UAE's rules on how lawyers may promote themselves.

We do SEO and AI search for UAE businesses, and we build client-intake agents. We haven't published SEO results for a law firm, so what follows is the method we would use. Everything here can be done in-house by a firm with a lawyer who writes well.

How do people find a lawyer in Dubai?

Most type their problem into Google or ChatGPT instead of a firm's name. Typical searches are "good family lawyer in Dubai", "employment lawyer Dubai unpaid salary" and "lawyer for rental dispute Dubai". Others check legal directories or ask friends, then look the firm up anyway. Either way, the website and the Google profile decide whether they call.

Google Maps answers the "lawyer near me" searches. Google says local results "are mainly based on relevance, distance, and popularity" (Google Business Profile Help), so a clear profile with steady reviews matters as much as the website.

ChatGPT works differently. It searches the web with its own crawler and builds an answer from the pages it finds. OpenAI states that "sites that are opted out of OAI-SearchBot will not be shown in ChatGPT search answers" (OpenAI crawler docs), so check that your robots.txt and CDN let it in. Once it can reach you, it tends to name firms whose practice pages answer the question directly and whose name appears the same way in directories and the press. Our guide on how to check if ChatGPT recommends your business shows how to test where your firm stands today.

Which practice-area pages should a law firm have?

Build one page for each practice area you handle. Inside each page, add sections that answer the questions clients ask about it. A single "Practice areas" page with ten bullet points can't rank for any of them.

Practice areaQuestions clients searchWhat the page needs
Family lawhow long does a divorce take in Dubai, custody rules for expats in UAEWho you represent, how a matter usually runs, what the first meeting covers, the lawyers who handle it
Employmentlawyer for unpaid salary Dubai, how to file a labour complaint UAEThe kinds of disputes you take, documents to bring, the steps you handle
Real estatedeveloper delayed handover Dubai what to do, rental dispute lawyer DubaiBuyer and landlord cases you handle, the process, links to official sources
Wills and inheritancedo expats need a will in DubaiOptions you advise on, who they suit, what the client prepares
Corporatehow to set up a company in Dubai mainland, shareholder dispute lawyer UAEServices, typical clients, languages, the partner in charge
Criminal and debttravel ban lawyer Dubai, bounced cheque lawyer UAEWhen to call, what you can and can't do, how fast you respond

The questions in the table show what people type. The answers have to come from your lawyers. When a page states a legal rule, a deadline or a fee, link the source, such as the law on the UAE Legislation portal or the relevant page on u.ae. Put the reviewing lawyer's name and the date on the page, and update it when the law changes.

Answer each heading in the first two sentences, in plain language, and add the detail after. Google's AI Overviews and ChatGPT tend to quote those opening lines, and a worried client wants to read them first.

Plenty of UAE clients search in Arabic, Russian, Hindi or other languages. A practice page in the client's language, with a lawyer who speaks it, often has far less competition than the English version. Our guide to Arabic SEO in the UAE covers how to do it without machine-translated pages. Arabic SEO in the UAE explains how to set up those pages properly.

What should a lawyer profile page include?

The lawyer's full name, a photo, their role (advocate or legal consultant), the courts they can appear before, academic qualifications, years of practice, the practice areas they handle, and the languages they work in. Link each profile to the practice pages that lawyer covers, and link those pages back.

Titles need care. The federal executive regulations for the legal profession prohibit a lawyer from displaying, on printed materials or firm signage, "any titles other than their academic qualifications, professional experience, and the level of Court before which they can argue" (Cabinet Resolution No. 8 of 2025, Article 34). That clause doesn't name website profiles, but it's the safest standard to follow. Describe what the lawyer studied, what they've done and where they can argue. Leave out titles like "top divorce lawyer".

Profiles also help search engines. Google's guide to helpful content gives extra weight to experience, expertise and trust on topics that could affect people's "financial stability, or safety", and recommends "accurate authorship information, such as bylines". Legal pages belong to that group, and a named lawyer on every article is the byline Google means.

Can lawyers in the UAE advertise online?

Yes, within limits. Article 35 of Cabinet Resolution No. 8 of 2025, the executive regulations of Federal Decree-Law No. 34 of 2022, lets a lawyer promote themselves through a firm sign, letterhead, "a website for the Lawyer or their Law Firm" and the firm's or lawyer's own social media channels.

Article 34 sets the limits. It prohibits a lawyer from:

  • Promoting themselves "in any manner that conflicts with the professional traditions, dignity, and prestige" of the profession
  • Seeking clients "by means of promotion or solicitation through intermediaries"
  • Hinting at "any influence or actual or alleged connections"
  • Using social media or other means to publish or imply "false, misleading, or fabricated information"

It also requires lawyers to follow the media content standards in UAE law.

For SEO, that rules out a few common tactics. Don't claim connections with courts or officials. Don't publish success rates or outcomes you can't back up. Think twice before paying lead-generation sites that pass enquiries to you, because the intermediary clause may reach them.

In Dubai, advocates and legal consultants register with the Government of Dubai Legal Affairs Department, under its registration bylaws. Whether the federal promotion rules, local rules or both apply depends on where and how you're licensed.

Watch out

This isn't legal advice, and you're the lawyers. Before you launch a campaign, a directory listing or a referral arrangement, check what your licensing authority allows, whether that's the Ministry of Justice, the Dubai Legal Affairs Department or your free zone's regulator.

How do you set up Google Business Profile for a law firm?

Create one profile for each office, named exactly as on your license and signage, and consider separate profiles for lawyers who meet clients directly. Google's guidelines say: "Doctors, dentists, lawyers, financial planners, and insurance or real estate agents are all individual practitioners."

  • Several lawyers at one office. The firm gets its own profile. A lawyer's profile title "should include only the name of the practitioner", without the firm name
  • A sole practitioner under a firm brand. Google prefers one shared profile, named "[brand/company]: [practitioner name]"
  • Paralegals and assistants. Google says "support staff should not create their own Business Profiles"

Use the office address only if it's a real office with permanent signage. Google doesn't allow profiles for virtual offices. Keep "Best Lawyer Dubai" out of the name. Google doesn't allow extra information in a business name, and Article 34 makes boasting a risk too.

Reviews are the first place where confidentiality becomes a problem. Ask satisfied clients for a review, but don't offer anything in return, because Google's content policy bars content "posted due to an incentive offered by a business". When you reply, never confirm that the reviewer was a client or mention their matter, even if the reviewer did. Thank them, and move complaints to a private conversation. Our guide to Google Business Profile in Dubai covers setup and categories in detail.

What schema does a law firm need?

Use LegalService for the firm. schema.org describes it as "a business that provides legally-oriented services, advice and representation, e.g. law firms", and it's a type of LocalBusiness, so it carries your name, address, phone, hours and the areas you serve.

Skip Attorney. It still appears on schema.org, but the Attorney page says: "This type is deprecated - LegalService is more inclusive and less ambiguous." For each lawyer, use Person on their profile page, with name, job title and the firm they work for. Add BreadcrumbList on every page and FAQPage where the page shows visible questions and answers.

The markup must say what the page says, with the same name, phone and address as your Business Profile. Our guide to structured data for AI search explains which types are worth adding, and the free site check on our homepage shows in seconds whether yours is in place and whether AI crawlers can reach the site.

How can a law firm show results without breaking confidentiality?

Write about the type of matter, never the client. The executive regulations say "the Firm must ensure the confidentiality of clients' information" (Article 51), and a case study that lets a reader guess who the client was breaks that, even with the name removed.

Safe material for content:

  • How a type of matter usually runs, in general terms, with steps and documents
  • Questions clients ask in first meetings, answered without reference to any one client
  • Changes in the law and what they mean, linked to the official text
  • The lawyer's own experience: years in a practice area, courts, languages, publications

Leave out dates, amounts, nationalities, companies or locations that narrow a matter down to one person. To publish anything closer to a real matter, get the client's written consent first and check it against your professional rules.

What does law firm SEO cost in the UAE?

Ours starts from 3,000 AED for the SEO and AI search setup (structure, schema, llms.txt, crawler access, first answer pages) and from 3,000 AED a month for ongoing SEO and GEO work. The pricing page lists every step. We don't know of a credible independent source for market-average prices in the UAE, so be wary of anyone quoting one. How much SEO costs in Dubai explains what drives the price.

Nobody can promise a firm a ranking or a ChatGPT mention, and any agency should say so before you sign. What you can measure is impressions, calls and enquiries for each practice area. The law firms page shows how SEO and client intake fit together.

The takeaway

A UAE law firm gets found when each practice area has a page that answers real client questions, each lawyer has a profile that lists qualifications, courts and languages, and the Google Business Profile matches the site. Keep all of it within the federal promotion rules and your licensing authority's guidance, and leave every client out of it.

Questions people ask

Does ChatGPT recommend lawyers in Dubai?

Yes. Ask it for a good family lawyer in Dubai and it usually names a few firms with links. It can only name firms it finds on the web, so your practice pages, lawyer profiles, Google profile and directory listings need to say the same thing about what you handle

Should a law firm write blog posts about UAE law?

Yes, if a named lawyer writes or reviews each one, every legal rule links to the official text, and the page shows the date it was last checked. Posts built around real client questions, without client details, are the material Google and AI engines quote most

Can a law firm publish client reviews and testimonials?

Reviews on Google are written by clients, so a firm can ask for them but not pay or reward anyone for them. When replying, never confirm that the reviewer was a client or mention their matter. Check with your licensing authority before quoting testimonials on your own site

Which schema type should a law firm use, LegalService or Attorney?

LegalService. schema.org marks Attorney as deprecated and says LegalService is more inclusive and less ambiguous. Use LegalService for the firm, Person for each lawyer's profile page, and keep the name, phone and address identical to your Google Business Profile

Does each lawyer at a firm need their own Google Business Profile?

Not always. Google treats lawyers as individual practitioners, so a lawyer who meets clients directly can have a profile in their own name alongside the firm's profile. Paralegals and other support staff should not have profiles

How long does law firm SEO take in the UAE?

Technical fixes usually show in Search Console within weeks. Rankings for practice-area searches tend to build over several months, and depend on competition and how many questions your pages answer well. Nobody can guarantee a ranking or a ChatGPT mention, so measure enquiries by practice area
