How to choose a GEO agency in Dubai: 9 checks

A buyer's scorecard for choosing a GEO agency in Dubai: nine checks, red flags, pricing models and the questions to ask on the first call.

To choose a GEO agency in Dubai, run nine checks before you sign: a fixed prompt panel across named AI engines, dated before-and-after runs, technical SEO skill, named deliverables, Search Console access, monthly reports, no guarantees, clear pricing and reproducible reports. An agency that passes all nine can show its work. One that passes few is selling a label

Search for "best GEO agency in Dubai" and you will find lists where the publisher ranks itself first. We run an AI search agency in Dubai ourselves, so read this with that in mind. The nine checks below don't depend on who writes them. Run them on us as well, and the last section shows how we do against them

What should a GEO agency in Dubai do?

A GEO agency should make your pages easier for ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews and Grok to find, quote and credit, and it should prove the change with measurements. Generative engine optimization sits on top of search engine optimization, so the work starts with indexing, content structure and entity consistency

That is why a good agency spends its first weeks on ordinary things. Our post on SEO vs AEO vs GEO explains why each layer has a ceiling set by the one below it. If an agency skips straight to "AI prompts" without asking about your indexing, you've learned something about them

How do you tell a real GEO agency from a listicle winner?

Ask for evidence that was produced before you asked. A ranked list on an agency's own blog is marketing, and it can't be audited. A prompt log with dates, a before and after screenshot with a timestamp, and a Search Console export can all be checked

The scorecard below is the one we'd use if we were buying. Read it left to right. Ask the question, listen for the good answer, and treat the red flag as a reason to pause.

#CheckQuestion to askGood answerRed flag
1MeasurementHow do you measure AI visibility?A fixed list of buyer prompts, run on named engines (ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity, AI Overviews, Grok) on a schedule, with cited domains logged"Our proprietary AI score", no list of engines or prompts
2ProofCan I see a before and after? Two dated runs of the same prompts on the same engines, plus the changes made between themScreenshots with no date, or a single run with no baseline
3SEO foundationHow do you check that Google can index my pages?Search Console coverage, robots.txt and CDN bot rules, canonical tags, page speed, internal links"GEO doesn't need SEO"
4DeliverablesWhat exactly will you produce?A named list: entity consistency across site and profiles, answer-first rewrites, schema matched to visible text, llms.txt, citation-source work"AI optimization", "content strategy", no list
5AccessWill you work inside my Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools?Yes, read access to your own accounts, which you can revokeRefuses access, or only shows you their own dashboard
6CadenceWhat do I get each month?A report on the same prompts, what moved, what was changed and what comes nextQuarterly slide deck, or no fixed rhythm
7PromisesCan you guarantee a ChatGPT or AI Overviews placement? No. They explain that answers vary and that nobody controls inclusion"Guaranteed top ranking in ChatGPT in 30 days"
8PricingHow is this priced and what is in scope? One of three clear models (audit, retainer, project), with scope and exit terms written downA price that appears only after a long pitch, or lock-in with no scope
9ReproducibilityCould my team repeat your test without you?Yes. The prompts, engines and method are shared, and the edits live on your siteBlack-box report you can't re-run, work hosted on the agency's own platform

Why is "guaranteed ChatGPT ranking" a red flag?

No outside party controls what an AI engine writes, so nobody can guarantee a mention. Google says so about its own product. Its AI features documentation states that "indexing and serving isn't guaranteed", and that there are "no additional requirements to appear in AI Overviews or AI Mode, nor other special optimizations necessary"

The same page says there is no special schema.org markup you need to add. That doesn't make structured data useless, because it still helps search systems understand a page. It does mean any agency that sells a secret AI-only trick is selling something Google denies exists. ChatGPT answers also change between runs, users and model versions, which is why a single screenshot proves little. A claim that ends in "guaranteed" is a sales line, and the honest version is "we raise the odds and measure the result".

What does a GEO agency's technical SEO check look like?

A competent agency checks crawling and indexing first, because an AI engine can only quote what its retrieval step found. Google states that a page must be indexed and eligible to appear in Search with a snippet to be a supporting link in AI Overviews, and that holds for the other engines in practice

In a first call, listen for these specifics: whether your key pages are indexed in Search Console, whether your CDN blocks GPTBot, ClaudeBot or PerplexityBot by accident, whether your canonical tags and redirects are clean, and whether your company name, address and services read the same on your site, Google Business Profile, LinkedIn and directories. Entity drift is one of the most common faults we find, and no prompt trick fixes it. The AI search visibility audit checklist walks through the full list.

What deliverables should be named in the contract?

Each deliverable should be a noun you can inspect. Five matter most:

  1. Entity consistency: one company name, address format and service list across your site and profiles
  2. Answer-first rewrites: each H2 a buyer question, the first 40 to 60 words answering it alone
  3. Schema: Organization, FAQPage and BreadcrumbList that match the visible text, as described in structured data for AI search
  4. llms.txt and crawler policy: what the file is and isn't is covered in llms.txt explained
  5. Citation work: original numbers, named primary sources and third-party references that engines can quote

If any of these is missing from a proposal, ask why. Sometimes there's a good reason. Your schema may already be right, for instance. Without a reason, you're paying for a retainer with no defined output.

What pricing models exist, and which fits?

The market uses three models, and each suits a different situation. We won't quote market averages, because we haven't seen a source we'd trust, and prices vary with site size and number of languages. Our GEO cost breakdown lists our own prices and what the tracking tools charge.

ModelWhat it isSuits you ifWatch for
AuditA one-off review with findings and a fix planYou have developers or an SEO already and need a diagnosisA report with no prioritized fix list
ProjectA fixed scope with a start and end, for example a content restructureYou know what needs to change and want it doneScope that grows through change requests
RetainerA monthly fee for ongoing measurement and fixesYou need steady work and a monthly reportNo written scope, no exit terms

Start with an audit when you're unsure. It costs the least to stop. Our post on choosing an AI automation agency in Dubai covers the separate question of automation builds, which have their own price drivers.

The agencies that worry us in discovery calls are the ones who won't tell us which prompts they ran. A good report lets you repeat the test yourself next week and get the same list of questions.

What should you ask on the first call?

Bring seven questions and write down the answers. A good agency doesn't mind.

  • Which engines and how many prompts do you run, and can you show me the list?
  • Show me one before and after, with dates, for a client in a similar market.
  • What do you check before touching content: indexing, robots.txt, CDN rules?
  • Which deliverables are in the first 90 days, by name?
  • Will you work inside my Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools, and who owns the content afterwards?
  • What happens if answers don't move after three months?
  • What does the monthly report contain, and can I see a sample with client data removed?

How does PHII Labs score against these nine checks?

We pass most of them, and we say where we're thin. Judge for yourself.

  • Measurement and proof: the free AI test puts 10 buyer questions to 6 AI engines (ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews and Grok) and sends the answers and fixes on WhatsApp within 48 hours. Re-run it later and you have a dated second run
  • SEO foundation and access: the 799 AED extended audit uses Google Search Console and Bing keywords, a full SEO, AEO and GEO check, three competitors and a fix plan in a PDF of about 20 pages
  • Proof on a real project: on a Dubai property SEO and AI search build, a fresh domain with no history reached 1,182 AI citations in three months, about 9,000 search impressions and 13 queries in the top 10, with no purchased links
  • Where we're thin: the case is one market and one site. We don't promise inclusion in any engine, and a different sector may behave differently

The service behind this is on the AI search visibility page. A retainer is priced after a call, because scope drives it.

The takeaway

A good GEO agency measures with a fixed prompt panel, proves change with dated runs, handles technical SEO, names its deliverables and never guarantees a placement. Use the scorecard on every vendor, including us. Get the free AI test and you'll have a dated baseline to hold any agency to

Questions people ask

What does a GEO agency do?

A GEO agency makes your content easier for ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews to find, quote and credit. It fixes indexing, entity consistency, answer-first structure and schema, then measures citations with a fixed prompt list on named engines each month

Can an agency guarantee that ChatGPT will mention my business?

No. Nobody controls what an AI engine writes, and answers vary between runs and users. Google's own documentation says indexing and serving isn't guaranteed. Treat any promise of a guaranteed placement as a red flag and ask for a measured, dated baseline instead

How much does GEO cost in Dubai?

It depends on site size, languages and scope, so we don't quote a market average. Agencies use three models: a one-off audit, a fixed-scope project or a monthly retainer. Our extended audit is 799 AED, and a retainer is priced after a call

Is GEO different from SEO?

GEO builds on SEO. AI engines retrieve from an index before they write, so a page that isn't indexed can't be cited. GEO adds a different measurement problem and more weight on quotable passages and consistent entity naming, but most tactics overlap with good SEO

How do I check if a GEO agency is real?

Ask for a prompt list, the engines used and two dated runs of the same prompts. Ask to work inside your Search Console, and ask whether you could repeat their test without them. A real agency answers with documents, not adjectives

How long does GEO take to show results?

It varies by site and market, so be wary of fixed promises like 30 days. Measure a baseline first, then re-run the same prompts monthly. In our broker platform case, a new domain reached 1,182 AI citations in three months
